AUDIOLOGIST
Career Description
Audiologists are responsible for testing and measuring hearing functions, identifying types of hearing disorders, developing patient rehabilitation plans and programs, providing educational, medical, and professional consultation, and recommending and dispensing hearing aids. They also assess and treat balance disorders. Audiologists work as part of a team that includes, physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists and counsellors.
Academic and Licensing Requirements
- Completion of a 4 year undergraduate degree from an accredited university with a B+/3.3 GPA
- An honours program is strongly encouraged
- Completion of an MSc in Audiology or Human Communication Disorders (Audiology)
Certification as an Audiologist is available through Speech-Language Audiology Canada (SAC)
